Google to stop indexing Flash content

Is your website fully designed in Flash or parts of your website’s content in Flash, and you depend on Google search traffic? Then its time for you to consider updating your website and stop using Flash going forward.

By the end of this year, Google will stop indexing Adobe Flash.

What Flash Actually Is?

Flash was introduced in 1996 by Adobe as a way of producing richer content on the web and on computers. It was a very popular web publishing platform in the late 90s but as time went on, fewer and fewer browsers continued to support Flash.

What is changing?

Back in 2008 Google first began crawling Flash files and a year later, Google got more sophisticated in how it indexed those SWF files. But it never really ranked content within Flash files all that well.

Google’s announcement.

Google said, “Google Search will stop supporting Flash later this year.” Specifically, Google said “in Web pages that contain Flash content, Google Search will ignore the Flash content.” “Google Search will stop indexing standalone SWF files,” also Google added. That means Google won’t be indexing or ranking content within Flash web sites or Flash elements on a web page.

The impact.

Google said, “most users and websites won’t see any impact from this change.” Apple stopped supporting Flash when it introduced the iPhone on those devices and the company may have been credited as killing Flash. As we said above, fewer and fewer browsers have supported Flash. Google said “Flash is disabled by default in Chrome (starting in version 76), Microsoft Edge, and FireFox 69.”

Google said you should look towards HTML5 and other newer forms of JavaScript. But Flash is something Google will stop working with for indexing.

How to Increase Your Website Traffic

A website is like a representative – of you, your company, and your business as a whole. Having a good website that provides information about your company, answers queries, and makes sales is a good start – at best. A well-designed website that does not attract visitors is no good for you and your business.

It is the desire of every website owner to always attract visitors like a magnet. However, with about 1.24 billion websites in the internet space today, every website owner has some work to do. Have you been struggling to drive traffic to your website? Here are a few practical steps that can help you.

Proper SEO Optimisation

If you really want to increase your website traffic, SEO optimisation is the foundation. To get this right, you must first identify your target audience and only produce what they want. Content of high quality that your audience is searching for along with concise Meta descriptions will attract visitors to your website. Although keyword research can be challenging, it is great for SEO. A practical keyword research tip is making use of keywords your top competitors are ranking with.

Let us imagine that your website covers anything and everything under basketball shoes. What else would you look to target apart from “best basketball shoes”? When you analyse your competitors properly, looking out for the keywords they make use of, you would have better ideas on the keywords that will optimise your website, drive traffic to it – and help you rank. To ensure your traffic is not temporary at best, your users must be certain that they will find informative content on your website. Proper SEO optimisation is a key to rank well in search engines.

Social Media

Once you have prepared your website for traffic, the social media provides a great platform for you to attract visitors. Adding relevant hashtags to your posts is a great way to direct your social media followers to your website and promote the pages therein. Social media extends your reach massively and gets your product discovered by your target audience.

Use Long-tail Keywords

Although short-tail keywords are searched for more frequently by most visitors, ranking them on search engines can be a daunting task. On the other hand, making use of long-tail keywords provides a better chance at ranking even higher for queries specific to the products and services you offer – and higher ranking easily translates to more traffic. In fact, with the advancements of voice-to-text capabilities in search engines, people now prefer long-tail keywords for their search.

Assess your Performance

Checking your website’s analytics and making use of tracked links for your marketing will allow you identify the best strategies and contents that work. You would be able to easily identify the strategies that need improvement and those you should totally do away with. Driving traffic to your website cannot be achieved overnight. Hard work, dedication, and perseverance will be required to constantly improve your website traffic. Truly, there is never enough traffic. With continuous perseverance – having a mix of the right strategies – you would start seeing the desired progress in your website traffic.

Why SEO is Absolutely Important for your Business

Many businesses today know (or think they know) SEO is important for the growth of their brand. However, with some businesses regarding SEO as some sort of alchemy, the importance of this invaluable tool has been watered down especially in the marketing space. Many are still uncertain about the importance of SEO for businesses.

SEO will definitely improve the overall visibility and searchability of a website, but is that all there is? Why is SEO so important for today’s savvy business? The following reasons will offer some insight into the significance of SEO for any business, regardless of the industry.

SEO Works

SEO is not a mere marketing buzzword. It is not dead. SEO really works. With the right SEO strategies, you can drive consistent and even endless traffic to your brand’s website. While Google algorithm updates ensure the most cutting edge SEO strategies are constantly evolving, this will hardly be an issue so long as you continue to provide value and work with the core elements of SEO practices.

Although you can still hire a knowledgeable and experienced SEO provider for your brand, this is great news for business owners with shoestring budgets. The core elements of SEO today are same as ten years ago – complying with them in combination with Google’s constant updates can bolster your search engine rankings.

Customer Insights

As earlier stated, SEO generates valuable web traffic. Google Analytics helps to track this traffic, providing insight into how your target customers search, how they browse, their most active days, their location and language, and the technology they use. This is an invaluable tool for your business as it can help you make more informed decisions concerning your business and marketing strategies – online and offline.

Trust and Credibility

The goal of every business is to establish an authority in their industry and with the services they provide. SEO can help you achieve this goal – both online and offline. At least 80 percent of web users today prioritize organic search results over paid ads. Hence, by investing in SEO and getting high ranking from search results, prospects and consumers are more likely to discover your brand.

More importantly, establishing authority with search engines like Google literally passes a vote of confidence on your brand. While customers may not consciously realize it, high search rankings make you appear more credible. In fact, statistics have shown that 75 percent of users will never scroll past Google’s first page.

SEO Delivers High ROI

No form of online or offline marketing effort is more rewarding that SEO – and the reason for this is simple. As an inbound marketing strategy, SEO allows you reach people specifically searching for your products and the services you provide. You do not need to take up space on a news article or even interrupt their favorite show on TV. You just show when they need the services you offer. No, you do not have to convince them they need the products or services you offer; you only need to convince them you are the right business for them. In other words, you would have won half the battle by using SEO for your business.

There is no denying that SEO is crucial to the success of your business today. When done correctly, it not only boosts your brand’s web presence, but gives you the platform to outdo any competition and continue to grow.
